Casserole

Casserole is a large lidded cooking vessel that is used in the oven or on the hob. Casserole comes from a French term en casserole, meaning served in the vessel used for cooking.

It is usually rounded with two handles. In cooking casserole is a dish consisting of tough cuts of meat, poultry or game stewed in liquid with vegetables and flavorings. It is available in a range of sizes from 2 quarts to 12 quarts. It is usually made of glass, ceramic and earthenware and depending on the material it is made it is used on the stovetop or oven.
