Cookie molds started in 1982 during the Chinese New
Year. The Chinese had been using carved wooden molds for centuries to
form cookies for special occasions. Then it was spread to Europe,
Austria and Germany to make wonderful, intricate cookies. It came to
America in the late 18th century and thereafter cookie molds were widely
and efficiently used to make delightful cookies.
The traditional molds are a composite of powdered wood and resin
stained to look like wood, and mounted with a hanging ring. Different
shapes and designs are carved on the wooden molds. These molds are
beautifully hand casted and also hand finished.
