Cotton Candy maker

Cotton candy is a candy made by spinning sugar that has been boiled to a high temperature. It is also known as candy floss or fairy floss. Specialized machines, termed as cotton candy makers, are used to make cotton candy.

History of Cotton Candy Maker
There are several stories as to who came up with the cotton candy maker. Certain facts that are still known as the history of this fluffy cotton candy maker are as follows :
  • In 1899 Wharton and Morrison created the first electric cotton candy machine to melt and spin sugar through tiny holes using centrifugal force. They created fine candy threads called fairy floss.
  • Thomas Patton while experimenting with caramelizing sugar formed threads using fork. He used a gas fired rotating plate to spin cotton candy threads. He then received the patent on this machine in 1900.
  • At the same time, a Louisiana dentist, Lascaux introduced cotton candy at his dental practice.
  • In 1904, this invention was taken to the St. Louis world's Fair by Wharton and Morrison.
  • Cotton candy was originally called fairy floss. In 1920 it was referred to as cotton candy.
  • In 1994, Gold Medal Products introduced a more reliable model with a spring base.

  • Sugar is melted into a liquid state.
  • Melted sugar is then spun in the machine.

  • These holes shapes and cools the liquid sugar.
  • After cooling the sugar becomes solid again.
  • The center of the machine is filled with thousands of tiny threads.
  • These tiny threads are collected and served on a stick.
