Kitchen Accessories

Kitchen accessories are used to increase efficiency in the kitchen. These are specially designed tools that solve various purpose of the kitchen other than cooking.

Over centuries a wide variety of kitchen accessories were introduced into India along with the various cooking traditions. In South and East, where rice is the staple food, a low round tepoy of wood, metal or stone was used. In South India, highly ornate spoon holders of metal or wood were made. Mortars and pestles of brass, iron, stainless steel and stone were used in the earlier times for grinding fresh spices. In some parts of Rajasthan, leather pots were used for storing ghee and cooking oil were used.

With the elevating market value of the cookware industry more and more kitchen accessories came into existence. These form the major market for cookwares today because of the comfort, luxury and ease they bring to any kitchen and add joy to cooking. These enhance the decorative value of any kitchen and have become the major implements of modern kitchen.
