Pie Pan
Pie pan is a round,
shallow, slope-sided dish with a flat or fluted rim, exclusively
designed to bake a pie. A standard pie pan is 9 inches in diameter and
1-1/4 inches deep. Pie pan is also called pie plate,
pie dish or pie tin. Pie pan is
dishwasher safe and carries a limited lifetime warranty. It is ideal for
deep-dish apple and other fruit pies.
 
Lining of Pie Pans
- Roll the dough into a disk shape.
- Roll up the dough onto the rolling pin and unroll it onto the
pan.
- For a single crust an extra inch of dough is required to tuck
under for a raised border.
- For a double crust pie the top crust require a bit extra dough.
Types of Materials used for Pie Pans
- Pyrex Pie Pan - They absorb heat quickly and
evenly. The pan cleans up easily and is quite durable.
- Black Steel Pie Pan - Black steel is an
excellent conductor of heat and quickly distributes it uniformly.
- Aluminum Pie Pan - Lightweight, heavy and
durable pan with easy cleaning. It distributed heat evenly. Shiny
aluminum produces pale crust.
- Clay Pie Pan - Clay pans hold heat and
distribute it evenly, retain moisture, can go directly to the table
and are easy to clean.
- Tin Pie Pan - Tin has better thermal
conductivity and is non corrosive.
- Dark Metal Pie Pan - It produces a crisp,
golden brown crust.
- Glass Pie Pan - The glass pans retains heat
evenly and results in better browning of pie crust.
- Non Stick Pie Pan - The non stick pan cleans
interior easily and releases pie easily.
