Pizza Peels

Pizza peel is a large and flat shovel. It is an almost oval-shaped paddle made of wood or metal, used to hold a pizza when placing it into and removing it from an oven. Large enough for family-size pizzas, pizza peel easily slides under a freshly baked pizza to remove it from the oven with panache. It is also called baker's peel.

The peel has a long handle to protect fingers from direct heat. Cornmeal is generally sprinkled on the surface of the pizza peel to ensure easy sliding. The peel is used to transfer pizza to the hot baking stone.
