Potato Ricer

Potato ricer is a wonderful tool for mashing potatoes, tomatoes, turnips, yams, carrots and more. It is a long handled metal basket with holes on the bottom and often on the sides. It resembles a mini colander. An equally long handle is hinged to the top and a metal pusher is attached to it.

Potato ricer ensures easy mashing of potatoes and provides strands of potatoes into rice like pellets. This is thus called a ricer. It can be easily found in many stores offering baking utensils. It usually comes with three removable disks allowing to control the coarseness or fineness of the mesh.
