Skimmer

Skimmer, a type of flat ladle, is a long handled kitchen utensil with either a perforated disk or a shallow, bowl shaped, wire mesh. It is used to retrieve small pieces of food from hot liquids or to remove unwanted surface fat and froth from soup or stock.

Skimmers are available in a variety of sizes depending on personal needs. It is also called perforated spoon.

Skimmer Materials

• Wooden Skimmer - It is the most common material for making skimmers. It is less abusive to foods and is widely used in non stick cookwares.
• Metal Skimmer - It is a good conductor of heat and is fine to use with metal pots and pans.
• Non stick skimmer is used to scoop out potato chips, French fries, doughnuts, fried calmari and other foods.
