Wok Pot

Wok is a versatile Chinese cooking utensil it is a bowl shaped pan that is used to quickly cook food over high heat. The bottom is rounded or flat. The traditional wok has a rounded bottom designed specifically to use on electric burner or a ceramic stovetop. The shape of the wok produces a small, hot area at the bottom while using relatively little fuel.

Wok pots are available in a range of sizes. Some varieties of woks have long handles, some have short and some even have a long handle on one side and short on the other. They are made of a variety of materials like carbon steel, cast iron and stainless steel.

Carbon steel and cast iron woks need to be seasoned before use to provide a non stick coating and prevent rust from forming on the cooking surface. They need special care and soaps should be used sparingly to avoid removing seasoning.
